Here is the list of schutzhund classes available at shows. Some shows might not have all classes.[/i]
BEGINNER
This class is open to all dogs without a title. More for the younger dogs this is good for exposure. It consists of a short tracking course, with a minimum score of 70 to pass. The obedience phase consists mostly of on-leash work with a small jump to retrieve. A minimum score of 70 is needed to pass. The protection part of this requires the dog to find and warn the handler of a bad guy. A minimum score of 80 is needed to pass. To get to the next level 600 points is needed.
NOVICE[/i]
This class is open to all dogs with a SchHI title. This is for dogs who are past the beginner stage and are starting to show promise in the sport of schutzhund. This tracking course is a bit longer and requires some more objects to be found. A minimum score of 70 is needed to pass. The obedience section of this requires a harder wall to jump over, and more off-leash work. The protection part of this level involves finding and warning of a bad guy and stopping the bad guy from escaping. A minimum score of 80 is needed to pass. To earn this title a total of 1800 points is needed.
INTERMEDIATE[/i]
This class is open to all dogs with a SchHII title. This is for dogs who are majoring in the sport of schutzhund. This tracking course is a longer and requires more objects to be found along with the course being older. A minimum score of 70 is needed to pass. The obedience section of this requires a high wall to be jumped over, and is done completely off-leash except for a few sections. The protection part of this level involves everything in the prior levels along with distinguishing between a bad guy and a harmless bystander. A minimum score of 80 is needed to pass. To earn this title a total of 4000 points is needed.
MASTER LEVEL[/i]
This class is open to all dogs with a SchHIII title. This is for dogs who are focussed completely on schutzhund. This tracking course is very long, requires more objects to be found, and the course can be new or old. A minimum score of 70 is needed to pass. The obedience section of this requires a 6' wall to be jumped over, not be distracted by gunfire or other people around, and is done completely off-leash except for a few sections. The protection part of this level involves everything in the prior levels along with distinguishing between a bad guy and a harmless bystander. A minimum score of 80 is needed to pass. To earn this title a total of 8000 points is needed.This is last level. Once here you can earn an advanced tracking degree, FH.
